“Detachment” Looks Like a Teacher Movie to Put on Your Radar
Another teacher movie hits American cineplexes next month and this one looks to be worth seeing. (I still haven’t bothered with last summer’s Bad Teacher.)
Detachment, starring Adrien Brody and a strong supporting cast and directed by eccentric Tony Kaye, arrives in theatres March 16 and on demand (VOD and iTunes) on February 24. Consider me curious. Here’s the trailer:

Bill Ferriter teaches 6th grade language arts in North Carolina, where he was named a Regional Teacher of the Year for 2005-2006.
Lana Gundy is a teacher in the Peoria (Illinois) Public Schools District 150. She provides professional development for the staff and is developing and implementing a new gifted program for her school. She is a member of the Illinois New Millennium Initiative.
John Holland is an artist, a teacher, a writer, and an innovator. After 12 years as a preschool teacher, John began working at Early Head Start/Head Start Program as a child development specialist. He is a co-author of TEACHING 2030.
Ryan Kinser is a 6th grade English teacher in Hillsborough County, Florida. After a career in television production, Ryan taught in urban Washington as a D.C. Teaching Fellow. He is a member of the Hillsborough New Millennium Initiative.
Katie Lyles teaches art in Jefferson County, Colorado. She is a member of the Denver New Millennium Initiative and part of the TeachingSolutions 2030 team.
Renee Moore has taught English and journalism for 20 years in the Mississippi Delta region at both high school and community college levels. She is National Board Certified, a former state Teacher of the Year, and a co-author of TEACHING 2030.
Kate Mulcahy has taught for five years as a high school English and English Language Learner teacher in Colorado. She is a Boettcher Teachers Program graduate and a member of the Denver New Millennium Initiative.
Ryan Niman teaches English and Social Studies in the Edmonds School District north of Seattle, Washington. He is a member of the Washington New Millennium Initiative.
Dave Orphal is a teacher in Oakland, CA. Dave serves as a veteran teacher leader for the Bay Area New Millennium Initiative and works with the California Teachers Association's Institute for Teaching.
Susan “Ernie” Rambo is a 23-year classroom veteran who currently teaches in the Clark County School District of Las Vegas, NV.
